£10,000 secured for untreated gum disease.
Victoria approached the Dental Negligence Team for help after a year of treatment for missed gum disease.
We secured £10,000 in compensation for Victoria for untreated gum disease.
Years of dental neglect meant Victoria underwent treatment which left her out of pocket and with missing teeth.
“I was told I’d developed severe gum disease due to years of dental neglect. I had no idea as nothing was visible and was horrified that my previous dentist had not picked this up.”
Victoria underwent a year of treatment, including “deep pocket cleansing” and tooth extractions. This involved regular time off work and significant discomfort, so she decided to approach the Dental Negligence Team.
One of our dental negligence experts, Simon Elliman, pursued Victoria’s case, which, he says, is all too common a scenario. “There’s an obligation for dentists to monitor and treat gum disease but we still see many cases where patients have gone untreated for years.”
Simon was able to establish quickly that there was a negligence case to answer.
The resulting legal action secured £10,000 of compensation for Victoria, who was impressed with the service she received: “Simon was a great support in explaining the process and always gave me confidence he was doing everything he could for me.”
