Katie Parr acted for G in a claim against his dentist for substandard management of his periodontal condition and a failure to advise him appropriately as to the nature and severity of the condition.
G presented to his dentist in 2005 and periodontal disease was noted immediately, however, a referral to specialist was not made. Despite attending his dentist for regular treatment which did involve scaling, it was not sufficient.
From 2005 to 2011, G lost three of his teeth prematurely and once referred to a specialist, required more intensive treatment than he would have done if he had been referred earlier.
G received £8,500 in an out of court settlement for his pain, suffering and future treatment costs in having to replace his teeth earlier than he would otherwise have had to.
