Steve Wake acted for A in a claim against her dentist for substandard root canal treatment to her UL6 tooth.
A discovered in 2013, that her dentist had carried out substandard root canal treatment to her UL6 tooth by failing to fill all of the canals and, thereafter, failing to offer a referral to a specialist to carry out re-root canal treatment.
After 6 years of pain and discomfort and several courses of antibiotics, A’s UL6 fractured. A had the tooth extracted, however, she was now under the care of a new dentist and this dentist failed to offer her a referral prior to the extraction as the roots would be difficult to remove. The extraction procedure was prolonged and two practitioners attempted removal of the tooth and roots. Whilst the tooth was removed, A’s neighbouring tooth was damaged in the process, as well as her supporting jaw bone. This meant that A had to have a healthy tooth repaired by filing it down and a bone graft before an implant could replace the extracted tooth.
A received £4,709.00 in an out of court settlement for her pain, suffering and future treatment costs.
