£3,000 awarded for substandard root canal treatment

Katie Parr acted for E in a claim against her dentist for a substandard root canal treatment and substandard crown placement.

E presented to her dentist in 2011 with a fractured UR2 tooth and root canal treatment followed by the placement of a crown was recommended. One root was over-obturated and the preparation of the crown was substandard and the resulting crown was too large.

Over the following weeks, E suffered from pain and discomfort as her crown was insecure and mobile. E received dental treatment advice which suggested that her UR2 tooth was compromised as a result of the treatment she had received and her tooth would eventually be lost.

E received £3,000 in an out of court settlement for her pain, suffering and future treatment costs in replacing her UR2 tooth.
