Sophie Angwin, recently acted for a Claimant that had received negligent dental fillings. The Claimant had asked the Defendant dentist to replace her amalgam (black) fillings with composite (white) fillings. It was not until the Defendant dentist had retired and the Claimant’s care was taken over by a different dentist that she found out that much of the amalgam material still remained underneath the new composite fillings.
The Claimant was told that the residual amalgam material would structurally compromise the teeth and she now needs to have a dental procedure to remove the residual amalgam from underneath 4 teeth, and in turn will need those filings replaced.
