Katie Parr acted for F in a claim against her dentist for substandard management of her dentition from 1998 onwards.
F discovered in 2013 that her dentist had carried out substandard root canal treatment and substandard crown placement to one of her upper left teeth in 1998. The adjacent tooth had an ill-fitting crown and two teeth at the upper back left also had gross caries and the crowns were deemed unrestorable. All four teeth on the upper left had to be removed or were lost as a result of ill-fitting crowns, a substandard root canal treatment and a failure to monitor decay.
In addition to this, an upper right tooth, crowned in 1999 proved problematic and was eventually extracted due to the crown causing an abscess. F lost five of her teeth prematurely and would require implant replacement treatment.
F received £25,000 in an out of court settlement for her pain, suffering and future treatment costs in having to replace her teeth.
